Greetings!

Another MCB Conference has been completed - but the community betterment work in communities all across the state continues every day.

The comments on each community from the judges have been sent this past week. If you did not receive them contact Jan Simon at 660-259-4409 or at mcb@iland.net

Your MCB Board wants to bring a number of regional meetings to your area. If you would like to host a meeting, contact Ms. Simon. We plan to hold the meetings again this year in March.

Thanks to all who attended and supported this year's conference. Your participation plays a vital part in the future of the MCB program.

Have You Completed Your Conference Survey?


It is a goal to make the MCB conference the best it can be, we need your feedback on this year's conference and ideas on how we can make it even better.

If you haven't had a chance to complete the conference survey, please take a few moments to fill out the online survey and make your opinion count.

We would ask that all survey responses be completed by November 15. Fill out the survey at MCB web site

Regional Meeting Ideas Requested


The MCB Board plans to hold regional meetings across the state in March 2007. We need ideas for topics for the meetings. We want to bring you information that will be most useful to your community or neighborhood. We also want to allow time at the meetings to have participants share their thoughts with us.

MCB Sweatshirts and T-Shirts For Sale


MCB sweatshirts and T-Shirts will be available to order through the MCB web site in the near future. The cost of the sweatshirts is $20 and the T-Shirts are $10, orders may be either mailed to one contact in a community or may be mailed individually with separate mailing rates.

MCB Needs Your Help


MCB is considering putting together a resource guide for communities and neighborhoods. Will you help us by providing suggestions of topics that would be most helpful to you as you work on projects in your community or neighborhood?

The resource guide would be placed on the MCB web site and available to you at any time. Topics that have been suggested so far are: housing, planning, funding sources and the list can be unending.

MU Extension Is Offering Community Economic Development Study Tour In Thailand


University of Missouri Extension, through its Global Leadership Education Program is offering a study tour "Exploring Community Entrepreneurship", which is a unique opportunity to explore how Thai community-based entrepreneurship facilitates local economic development, preservation of culture and quality of life.

This Study Tour to Thailand will offer a small group an exceptional opportunity to see first-hand a successful program for community-based entrepreneurship. Visit policy makers as well as local villages and towns to see how communities are enhancing local and regional economic developmemt through an innovative program called OTOP, One Tambon One Product (a Tambon is local government unit and translates to "subdistrict.")

Consider becoming a member of "Friends of MCB." For your $50-$249 membership your name will appear on the web site, in the conference program and other printed materials, as well as being introduced at the MCB luncheon and banquet and receiving an MCB pin. The number of Friends has increased this year, but we want you to join us also.

Congratulations Allendale...2006 MCB Grand Prize Winner

The City of Allendale was presented with the Grand Prize during the Annual Awards Banquet held on Monday, October 23rd.

The Clinton Youth Group was presented with the Glenn Smith Memorial Award during the Annual Awards Banquet on Monday evening.
