This information is all reprinted in this issue from the April 2011 "Community Matters" Newsletter. Remember, the latest information is always available on the MCB Web Site.

2011 MCB
Calendar of Events
To assist communities in planning for the 2011 MCB Conference, MCB would like to give the following information:
Community and Youth Group Project Entry Form and MCB Permission Statement Form Deadline - postmarked by June 30, 2011.
Project Books/Disks, Adult and Youth Nomination Forms and Community Contact Form Deadline - postmarked by July 31, 2011.
MCB Judges' Community Visits - September 12-16, 2011.
2011 MCB Conference, Capitol Plaza Hotel, Jefferson City - October 16-17, 2011.
Community Plan Important
Since planning is such a vital part of each community betterment organization, MCB wants to encourage communities to review your community's plan from last year and make any changes that your community feels are needed.
If your community determines that it is time to develop a new plan, please go to the MCB Planning Guide for possible suggestions on how to start work on the new plan - using whichever style of plan your community chooses to use. Also available on the MCB Web Site is the "MCB Community Inventory Form" which is yet another community planning tool that is available.
When considering the projects your community chooses to enter into the MCB Awards Competition this year, remember that they should relate to your current community plan.
2011 Project Book Example
MCB wants to provide communities with as much assistance as possible as they prepare for the 2011 MCB Awards Competition. MCB has placed a sample project book on the MCB web site: MCB Project Book
This example will give new or reactivating communities and neighborhoods a starting point as they assemble information and put their 2011 project books/disks together. For the communities and neighborhoods that have participated in the MCB Awards Competition for many years, this will be an example of how other community organizations compose their project books/discs. Communities can then determine if they would like to try a new style of community project presentation.
The Project Book pages are only in example form. Other formats are acceptable. Community and Youth Group Project Summary Forms should only include written narrative. (No images on these pages).

There are NO entry fees again this year! MCB is able to keep participation costs low due to having received the NAP Grant, and because of generous donations from sponsors.
Please read the 2011 Project Book Guidelines carefully.
The 2011 MCB Conference Theme is: "MCB is not magic, but it works; the odds for winning look good. Take your chances...."
Communities entering the 2011 MCB Awards Competition MUST plan to have a representative from their community attend the 2011 MCB Annual Conference October 16-17 in Jefferson City to accept any recognition or award(s) that may be bestowed on the community.
