Greetings!
As the weather warms up we start to make preparations for a busy spring. Many of you may be making decisions about what will go into your MCB project books. MCB wants to assist communities with this process by bringing you some new information in this newsletter.

MCB Regional Meeting Information
Misouri Community Betterment is pleased to announce the schedule for the Regional Meetings this spring. An e-mail will be forwarded regarding the Regional Meeting agendas along with registration forms as soon as they are available. This information will also be placed on the MCB Web Site. The current schedule is:

Canton - Friday, May 13, 2011
Windsor - Saturday, May 14, 2011
Additional Regional Meetings may be set up if there is interest in other outstate areas.
The 2011 MCB Annual Conference will be held on October 16-17, 2011 at the Capitol Plaza Hotel in Jefferson City.

Calendar of Events
To assist communities in planning for the 2011 MCB Conference, MCB would like to give the following information:
Community and Youth Group Project Entry Form and MCB Permission Statement Form Deadline - postmarked by June 30, 2011.
Project Books/Disks, Adult and Youth Nomination Forms and Community Contact Form Deadline - postmarked by July 31, 2011.
MCB Judges' Community Visits - September 12-16, 2011.
2011 MCB Conference, Capitol Plaza Hotel, Jefferson City - October 16-17, 2011.
MCB Resource Directory Available on the MCB Web Site
Has your community used the MCB Resource Directory that is available on the MCB Web Site? This directory provides a tool for communities to be better able to continue to provide the quality of life they want in their community.
New information is constantly being added as it is received. If you have or know of information to add to the directory, please contact Jan Simon at 417-334-3474 or at

Request A Community Visit
Missouri Community Betterment is fortunate to have received funds through the Neighborhood Assistance Program project that enables MCB Executive Director Jan Simon to be available to make visits to communities at no charge.
The criteria for a community visit have been developed and are available on the MCB Web Site. Click on "Community Visit Criteria" in the Red Section under "Local Community Betterment Start-Up."
If you are aware of any community that meets the criteria listed, please have them contact Jan Simon at 417-334-3474 or at mcb@iland.net to discuss their community visit.
Visits can only be made until designated funds are expended, so please contact Jan Simon soon!
MCB Project Book Matrix
Is your community looking for some tested and proven ideas for community and youth group projects? The 2010 MCB award competition projects for communities and youth groups is the place to get ideas that may work in your community! Go to the MCB Web Site to find the Project Matrix. They are located under the Gold Community Projects Tab on the left side of the web site.
When you click on the project name, the project summary form will appear. Additional information about each project may be obtained by clicking on the name of the community. A contact person's name, mailing address, telephone number, and e-mail address will be available.
Missouri Community Betterment is working to provide more information for local communities to help them improve the quality of life of their community, and make all the communities of Missouri a better place to live, work, and play.
The Friends of MCB Want You To Join Us!
Please consider becoming a member of the "Friends of MCB."
For a $50-$249 membership, your name will appear on the MCB Web Site, in the MCB Annual Conference Program, and on other printed materials, as well as you being introduced at the MCB Conference Luncheon and Banquet, and receiving a MCB Lapel Pin.

The 2011 MCB Award Competition Materials are now available on the MCB Web Site.
There are NO entry fees again this year! MCB is able to keep participation costs low due to having received the NAP Grant, and because of generous donations from sponsors.
Please read the 2011 Project Book Guidelines carefully.
The 2011 MCB Conference Theme is: "MCB is not magic, but it works; the odds for winning look good. Take your chances...."
Communities entering the 2011 MCB Awards Competition MUST plan to have a representative from their community attend the 2011 MCB Annual Conference October 16-17 in Jefferson City to accept any recognition or award(s) that may be bestowed on the community.

MCB Sweatshirts and t-Shirts will be available to be ordered at the 2010 MCB Conference in the registration area during the Conference. Samples will be available for you to see the finished product. Orders may be placed at the conference and the products mailed to you. MCB does not keep extra products in stock.
