2009 MCB Calendar of Events
To assist you in planning for the 2009 MCB Conference, we would like to give you the following information:
Project Entry Form and MCB Permission Statement Form Deadline - June 30, 2009.
Project Books, Adult and Youth Nomination Forms and Community Contact Form Deadline - July 31, 2009.
MCB Judges Make Community Visits September 14-17, 2009.
MCB Conference, Capitol Plaza Hotel, Jefferson City, October 18-19, 2009.
Project Book Examples are available on the MCB Web Site
MCB wants to
provide communities with as much
assistance as possible as they prepare
for the 2009 MCB Awards Competition. MCB
has placed three copies of Project Books
and one disk format from different
population categories on the
MCB Web Site.
These examples
will give new or reactivating
communities and neighborhoods a starting
point as they assemble information and
put their project books together. For
the communities and neighborhoods that
have participated in the MCB Awards
Competition for many years, these will
be examples of how other community
organizations compose their project
books. Communities can then determine if
they would like to try a new style of
community project presentation.
If you would
like to use this MCB resource,
please go to the
MCB Web Site and
review the Project Book examples,
then start working on your community
project book or disk in the style
you choose to use. The pages
following each project may be filled
with newspaper articles, photos, or
other documents that provide more
information about the project.
Remember, the project book is the
first opportunity that the MCB
Judges will have to learn about your
projects before they actually visit
your community or neighborhood.
The community
project book may be submitted
electronically. As an example, a
Power Point presentation, Word
documents, or Excel documents may be
submitted as the electronic project
book entry. One paper copy
of this electronic presentation must
be submitted to MCB for use by the
MCB Judges, and for display at the
Annual Conference.
Plan Now to Attend the 46th Annual MCB Conference!
The MCB Adult and Youth Planning
Committees have worked hard to select
timely topics and outstanding speakers
for the 46th Annual MCB Annual
Conference. The conference will be held
again this year at the Capitol Plaza
Hotel in Jefferson City. Events will
start on Sunday evening and conclude
with the Awards Banquet on Monday
evening.
MCB strongly encourages all
Missouri communities to enter the 2009
Awards competition. If it is not
possible this year, please plan to send
community representatives to the Annual
Conference. It is a wonderful
opportunity to meet people from other
community betterment organizations,
review community Project Book entries,
visit with vendors that can assist your
community with future projects, and hear
great speakers on community topics of
great interest to both youth and adults.
Mark October 18-19, 2009 on your
calendars and plan to attend the
46th Annual MCB Conference. MCB will
be featuring topics and speakers in
our upcoming MCB newsletters. Watch
the excitement build as we celebrate
