Register for MCB Conference
The annual MCB Conference is set for
October 19th- 20th at the Capitol Plaza
Hotel in Jefferson City.
Registration materials are now available
on the
mcb web site . A brochure will
also be mailed to communities and
neighborhoods. The conference fee is the
same this year as last year. We are
again pleased to announce that the fees
for youth have been reduced to encourage
attendance. MCB continues to underwrite
a large portion of the conference fees.
MCB has applied for and received a grant
that will allow all youth award nominees
free registration and one night's
lodging and all adult award nominees
free registration. We do have funds from
this grant to pay for youth and adult
registration and lodging if the
individual or community does not have
funds to cover these expenses. These
funds are on a first come first serve
basis. Contact Jan Simon at 417-334-3474
or
mcb@iland.net for more
information.
The Early Bird Registration deadline is
October 10. Tables of eight (8) may be
reserved for the Monday, October 20
Awards Banquet. Reservations must be
received by October 10. Please fill out
the registration form by marking each
meal that you anticipate attending. It
allows MCB to keep costs down as much as
possible. Please indicate on the form if
the person registering is a youth
participant. We want to have adequate
space in the youth programs.

Conference Program Announced
The 45th Annual Missouri Community
Betterment Conference Program is
available on the mcb web site . We have
been fortunate this year to again have a
Youth and Adult Planning Committee to
help plan the schedule of events for our
conference. We have also relied on the
comments that the communities and
neighborhoods shared with us at the
previous conference.
We will again have a Youth Pool Party
and Hospitality Room on Sunday as well
as a DJ after the Live Auction and
Talent Show. There will be a youth and
adult track of programs this year. Most
of the sessions will be separate, but we
will be joining together for the
"Greenburg, KS Shares Their Rebuilding
Experiences" presentation.
Please plan to attend the MCB
conference this year whether you
submitted an entry or not. We have
scheduled time for communities and
neighborhoods to share information with
each other and provided display booths
from various resource organizations.
Several programs will feature
communities sharing information about
their successful projects.
MCB Auctions
It is time to think about the Silent
and Live auctions we have every year.
These have been very successful and
helped a great deal with the expenses
for the youth program for which the
proceeds are designated.
Each community that has entered this
year will soon be receiving a letter
with a form enclosed to send in to put
something in the auction. The details
will be enclosed.
We are asking the communities to
donate something, such as a basket
representing their community, an item or
whatever they choose for either auction.
The items can be brought to the
conference on Sunday afternoon.
The live auction will take place
during the Pizza Party/Talent Show on
Sunday Night. The Silent Auction will be
in place until the Monday night banquet.
Here is a chance to show off your
community by not only sharing your
talent in the talent show but by also
promoting your community with products
or items as you may have promotional
material displayed by your item in the
Silent Auction.
We hope you will join us in this
effort. If you have any questions when
you receive the letter please call
Carolee Hazlet at 660-263-3345 or email
carolee@mcmsys.com
