ALLENDALE TOPS COMMUNITY BETTERMENT AWARDS

Thirty one communities and 14 individuals were honored at the Missouri Community Betterment (MCB) conference in Columbia.

The Awards Banquet was the highlight of the 43rd conference which assists communities to improve their quality of life. Nearly 350 volunteers, community leaders and youth from across the state were in attendance.

The city of Allendale won the Grand Prize over the other 39 communities that entered this year. Allendale’s community involvement and ability to prioritize and get projects done moved them to the head of the class.

Other winners in their population groups were Bourbon, Louisiana, Lexington and Clinton.

“While the awards are nice, the real winners are the folks in the communities that do volunteer work to improve their towns,” MCB President Jack Briggs said. “The excellent quality of life that is found in most Missouri communities is a direct reflection on the numerous volunteers who give their valuable time and effort to better their neighborhoods and communities.”

The Awards Banquet is an integral part of the MCB program, which is administered by the Missouri Community Betterment Educational Fund. MCBEF is a not-for-profit organization made up of businesses, public utilities, community representatives, federal and state agencies and individuals..
